Go into the index page of any forum ( the main page inside any room where you see the list of topics )

Point your mouse pointer on the line of the topic you wish to preview.
Locate the pointer a little to the left of the topic creator nick, example picture:

This small preview icon is hidden until your mouse pointer hovers it but it should be easy to make it appear.

Once clicking on it a text box appears with the first post of the topic you are pointing on:

Go to your profile settings section (My Settings from the drop down menu) and click on the profile tab
In the General Profile Information section:

Inside the Shoutbox page at the bottom of the page click on the My Prefs button.
